Inside the Portal

पोर्टल के भीतर

When you sign up, your family gets its own private space inside the portal — a place to map the family tree, preserve photos and oral histories, and stay connected across generations. Here's what's inside.

A banyan-tree family canvas with portrait avatars, Hindi labels (अग्रसेन, पिता, माता, सुश्रुत), and the silhouette of a banyan tree behind the generations.

The centrepiece

A banyan-tree canvas for every generation

वंश वृक्ष

Every member of your family — living and ancestral — laid out on a single canvas you can pan, zoom, and drag across. Designed for joint families where eight generations live together in memory.

  • Every person on one canvas — no separate pages to flip between
  • Pan and zoom from great-great-grandparents down to grandchildren
  • Add a new person in two clicks, drag them into position
  • Click anyone to see their full profile, photos, and stories
  • Spouses, in-laws, half-siblings, adopted — all relationships supported
A profile card for Lala Diwanchand Singla (1898–1972) of Khori / Rewari, Garg gotra — sepia portrait, three thumbnail photos, and an oral-history story about the 1947 partition crossing.

Memory keeping

Photos, letters, and oral histories

चित्र और कहानियाँ

Every person can carry photos from across their life — childhood, wedding, late years. Stories elders tell can be recorded as audio. Old letters and family documents can be uploaded as scanned attachments.

  • Multiple photos per person — including black-and-white ancestor portraits
  • Captions and approximate years for each photo
  • Audio recordings — elders telling stories, family history, ritual instructions
  • Document scans — old letters, ration books, partition papers, wedding cards
  • Family-private by default — never shared without your permission
A world map titled Family Map, with saffron pins clustered across USA, UK, UAE, India, and Australia, and dashed migration paths arcing across continents. Bilingual legend (वर्तमान निवास / Current home, पैतृक / Ancestral, प्रवास पथ / Migration path).

  • Migration paths drawn between generations
  • Filter by living vs deceased, by gotra, by generation

A voice-recording UI labelled "Diwali Lakshmi Pooja — described by Dadi", with a saffron pulse around a microphone, a 2:34 timer, and AI-extracted Items needed (diya, kalash, marigold flowers, sandalwood paste), Steps, and a Mantras panel showing ॐ श्री महालक्ष्मयै नमः.

AI-powered

Voice → ritual archive

मौखिक संस्कार

Hold the phone to your grandfather as he describes the family Diwali Lakshmi Pooja. The portal records the audio, then uses AI to structure it into a step-by-step ritual guide — items, mantras, sequence — that your kids will have forever.

  • Record any elder describing a family ritual
  • AI structures the recording into Steps / Items / Mantras / Notes
  • Owner reviews and approves before publishing
  • Family-only by default; can be submitted to the public catalogue if you choose

Your family's data, your family's

Privacy by default

Every family's tree, photos, stories, and rituals are visible only to members of that family. Nothing crosses between families. Only items you explicitly choose to share to the public catalogue (a ritual variation, an oral history) become visible to others — and only after owner approval.

Free during rollout

The portal is free for every family during the early rollout. When subscriptions eventually launch (to fund AI features and storage), the first 100 founding families stay free permanently. Donations to the community fund are separate and go 100% to social work.
